HOPE, CREATE, AND INSPIRE – Art Auction and Event
Hope, Create and Inspire, an art event and auction to benefit homeless children in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts sponsored by Hope for Creativity, will take place on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 6:30-11PM at the Sheraton Colonial, 1 Audubon Rd., Wakefield, MA.

Hope for Creativity (HFC) is a youth-powered 501c3 dedicated to providing art supplies (the tools to create!) to homeless children in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. HFC also makes creative art times available for children and their families staying in shelters. In addition, HFC visits schools and youth groups throughout the year to make students aware of the issue of childhood homelessness and empower them to be change makers in their communities.

Hope for Creativity has reached out to artists across the country to create a piece on a 12" x 16" palette using "Hope, Create, and/or Inspire" as their theme. Twenty-two artists from all walks of life, talents, and mediums answered the call. The art palettes are available via an online auction with opening bids starting at $50.00. Bidding has begun and commences on October 12, 2012 at 9PM. You can view and participate in the auction via the following site:
The wrap up event and party will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 6:30-11PM at the Sheraton Colonial, 1 Audubon Rd., Wakefield, MA 01880. There will be food, a cash bar, a “something for everyone” raffle, music, and lots of goodwill and inspiration. All ages are welcome. It's a great way for children to see the best of youth-powered community service in action. The Sheraton has graciously donated the evening to the cause so all ticket sale proceeds go directly to HFC. Tickets available online at: http://www.hopeforcreativity.org/
Hope for Creativity was founded in July 2009 by Moira Landry, currently a tenth grade student at Swampscott High School. Moira recruited her friends to help and HFC is now run by a group of young people, overseen by an adult advisory board, who have made a commitment to make a difference in the lives of homeless children. "We believe that you don’t have to be an adult to make a huge difference in the world and creativity is a vital component of healthy childhood development. Although our work does not completely resolve the issue of childhood homelessness, we can give homeless kids the tools with which to create and something to call their own,” says founder Moira Landry. The organization received 501c3 status in 2010.
Since the founding of the organization, HFC has distributed 1,000 art packs to homeless children. HFC also sponsors an annual Music-a-Thon (January), community nights, can and bottle drives, and various other ongoing activities.
