Senator McGee visits Girls Inc. of Lynn
Senator McGee visits Girls Inc. of Lynn to discuss local environmental issues with the middle school girls.
On Thursday, July 26th, Senator Thomas McGee visited the Beach Sister Program at Girls Inc. of Lynn to discuss local environmental issues and describe his work on behalf of his constituency. The girls asked questions about many of their concerns, including local availability of healthy food, water and air pollution, litter and marine debris, and how they could help to make other youth aware of the environmental issues facing the city of Lynn. Senator McGee encouraged the girls to engage with the community through raising awareness of the issues they care about and participating in the democratic process.
Beach Sister is the result of a partnership between Northeastern University Marine Science Center and Girls Inc. of Lynn to provide marine science exploration opportunities as part of Girls Inc. of Lynn’s programming. Over a course of six weeks during the summer, middle school girls learn about local ecosystems and environmental issues and develop and implement a relevant community service project.
