LaToyia Edwards, Emmy award-winning primary evening news anchor for NECN, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the Girls Inc luncheon to be held on April 11th from 11:30-2:00 at the Danversport Yacht Club.

Ms. Edwards stated, “I am delighted to be asked back to the Girls Inc. of Lynn 25th Anniversary Luncheon.  The organization does an incredible job giving the girls the tools to believe in themselves and enabling them to be Strong, Smart and Bold.  At last year’s luncheon, I was impressed by the passion and commitment of the volunteers, donors and staff. The luncheon had such a powerful effect on me that this year, I am bringing my own daughter.”

Each day at Girls Inc. of Lynn, hundreds of young girls and teens arrive at the center to spend the afternoon with their friends in a safe, nurturing environment.  Girls Inc. of Lynn is committed to helping girls grow strong, smart and bold by providing innovative and educational programs at the center, in schools and at other youth agencies.  These research-based curricula, delivered by trained professionals, equip girls to achieve academically, lead healthy and physically active lives, manage money, navigate media messages, and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering and math.  The Girls Inc. experience prepares girls with the appropriate tools to overcome gender, economic and social barriers and grow into healthy, educated and independent adults.

Over 500 members of the community come together at the annual luncheon to celebrate the accomplishments of the amazing young women who have overcome numerous challenges to achieve success and win the scholarships that enable them to attend college.

“I encourage everyone to come join us on this extremely joyous afternoon.  It is so rewarding to see the direct impact that individuals can make through their generosity and commitment.  This event promises to be a very powerful and uplifting afternoon,” concluded Ms. Edwards.
