When Do You Set Your Clock Ahead for Daylight Saving Time?

So, when is Daylight Saving Time, anyways?

When oh when is daylight saving time, you might ask?

Daylight Saving Time 2013 begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, and ends at 2 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 3.

This is the annual day when we spring forward and lose a precious hour of sleep in exchange for a precious hour of sun at day's end. The reason? It is said to save energy.

We are told by our friends at About.com Geography that Daylight Saving Time started in the United States during WW I. It was a way to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October. After the war states an communities could chose whether to observe the daylight saving schedule.

In WWII the nation returned to daylight saving time, again, to save energy for war production.

In 1966, Congress passed the Uniform Time Act, which standardized the length of Daylight Saving Time.
