VIDEO: Holiday Parade Lights up the Night

The Swampscott Police Association hosted the parade which included a van that collected gifts for children who might not otherwise receive presents around the holidays.

The Swampscott Holiday Parade rolled from the Swampscott High parking lot Saturday night with almost 30 units.

Lights flashed. Sirens boomed. And winter was in the air.

The procession unfurled from The Greenway to Essex Street where police cruisers, a police motorcycle, fire engines, ambulances and floats formed a holiday convoy.

The convoy motored to Vinnin to Salem Street to Humphrey and Burrill.

Among the floats were a big blow-up Homer Simpson, kids in red outfits and Santa hats and the real deal, Mr and Mrs. Claus, forming the parade's caboose in the train of holiday cheer.
