Tuesday Night Fireworks

The company hired for the combined Lynn/Swampscott fireworks show postponed Sunday's show due to the weather forecast issued on Saturday.

The decision on Saturday to postpone Sunday's fireworks show at King's Beach was made by the private company that puts on the show, said the chairman of the Swampscott Board of Selectmen.

Chairman Matt Strauss said the pyrotechnics company made the dcall due to the thunder and lightning storm forecasted for Sunday.

The company totes a barge to the town for the show. The fireworks are fired from the barge, anchored in the harbor.

Strauss suspects that the company had another show to perform on Monday so it rescheduled the Swampscott/Lynn show for Tuesday.

The fireworks company informed the city of Lynn of its decision on Saturday, and Lynn passed along the word to the Swampscott Police Department.
