Swampscott Recreation Wants to Cultivate a Farmer's Market

The town department is seeking volunteers to manage the market.

This article was submitted by Danielle Strauss of the Swampscott Recreation Department.

Commission is looking for volunteers to manage a Farmer’s Market here in Swampscott.

Volunteers would include a manager and support staff.  The manager would be looking to spend approximately 20 hours a week during the period the market would be open, “prime time."

Our thoughts are to have a market from mid-June through October with the possibility of being open two Sundays in November.  Prior to the opening of the market, the manager and its staff could be spending a few hours a week accepting applications from vendors and having same complete forms and necessary permits from the Board of Health.

The manager would meet with a member of Rec a few times a year to provide updates.

Recreation is committed to supporting community events of all kinds including a Farmer's Market. During the past year, Recreation has sponsored events including a talent show, car show and craft fair.

Recreation will continue with these events, expand on them and bring more of these entertaining and quality events to our town.
