Dan Comite of Swampscott, a 2011 advertising graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, found his dream job online — well actually, the job found him.

Comite, a shark enthusiast, hasn't missed an episode of the Discovery Channel's Shark Week in 10 years. So for one of his final projects prior to graduation, Comite created a campaign for the network's upcoming Shark Week, which he then posted to his online portfolio.

The day before graduation, Comite's Shark Week campaign was discovered by people at Discovery Network and Dan received an unexpected – and life changing - phone call from the Chief Marketing Officer of Discovery Creative who had caught wind of his work. Dan was flown down to Discovery's headquarters in Silver Spring, MD for an interview where he was offered a position on the spot as a designer on their creative staff.

"It's wild to think that this opportunity all stemmed from my SCAD portfolio class," says Comite. "My work was picked up on Twitter through the Discovery Channel's HR department before finding the eyes of some important people like the CMO and other creative directors. What a great turn of events as I was only a month away from actually applying there before they gave me a call."

Comite will be moving to the Washington, DC area to begin his dream job with Discovery Networks. But first he planned on going to South Africa to scuba dive with sharks.
