Acting Workshops at Boston Casting

Daniel Roebuck, one of Hollywood's busiest character actors, is coming toBoston to share his exciting and entertaining "The Audition is the Job"experience with local Boston actors.   Roebuck is teaming up with BostonCasting's Media Performance Institute for a one-day workshop that demystifies the audition process and puts the actor in control. Participants can choose to attend one workshop on either Saturday, November 10 or Sunday, November 11, 2012. The workshops will be held at Boston Casting, 129 Braintree Street in Allston, MA.

Having mentored hundreds of actors, Roebuck is a master at steering actors away misinformation that is so rampant in show business. According to Roebuck, actors are inundated with falsehoods about the simple dynamics of what is expected of them, especially through the audition process. "As actors, we must keep our eye on the moment in front of us and not the prize," says Roebuck. "Performers spend so much time concentrating on the 'maybe' and the 'what if' and too little time on the job they actually have to do- auditioning!"

During the 4-hour class, Roebuck will address:

o      Quick memorization

o      Improvisational ability

o      Knowing how to alter yourself to better fit the character

o      Understanding what clients are looking for

o      Clear understanding that you define the audition, not the other way around

With a career that has spanned nearly three decades, Roebuck has made his mark in both film and television. He has appeared in such films as the blockbuster THE FUGITIVE, the comedy MONEY TALKS, the family film AGENT CODY BANKS and the horror movie HALLOWEEN 2. Roebuck has also starred in countless television shows including MATLOCK, NASH BRIDGES, A MINUTE WITH STAN HOOPER and LOST. As a guest star, Roebuck's most recent credits include GLEE, CASTLE, WEEDS, GRIMM, THE MENTALIST, and HOT IN CLEVELAND. He has also played Jay Leno in THE LATE SHIFT, Garry Marshall in MORK AND MINDY: THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY, and thousands of other famous (and not so famous) people.
