Stanley School Gets A New Principal

The new principal starts his duties on July 1.

Tom Daniels has been named principal of effective July 1, said Swampscott Superintendent Lynne Celli.

He will replace, who will start her duties as assistant superintendent on July 1.

Daniels is principal of the Oak Ridge School in East Sandwich, a K-8 school of 744 students.

He was the recommended choice of a representative search committee of Stanley School teachers, elementary principals, parents, and community members, the superintendent said.

The search process included interviews, as well as open forums with staff, community, parents, and school district administrators.

The finalists were named late last week and the candidates were scheduled to visit Stanley School Tuesday.

The other finalists were John Billings, currently a higher education administrator for Nova Southeastern University and Barbara Brown, principal, Lilja Elementary School, Natick.

The district will have new principals at Stanley School and Swampscott Middle School starting July 1.

The middle school will also have a new assistant principal.
