Sixth Graders All Pick the Bruins in Game Seven

During a dinner to help fight hunger, Middle School students took a few minutes to pick the Bruins to beat the Vancouver Canucks in game seven tonight.

With the sixth graders on duty at the Middle School Tuesday night helping to feed the hungry across the nation, many of them took a few minutes to talk hockey. Bruins hockey, and specifically game seven tonight in Vancouver.

“I’m a little nervous because the game is in Vancouver,” Andrew Dove said as he was getting water glasses ready for the incoming guests.  “They played really good on Monday, I think they can win another one, even though they’re on the road.”

Sixth grader Annie Norton said it’s the Bruins by a 3-1 margin tonight, and her favorite player is super-pest Brad Marchand. The B’s winger set a franchise rookie record with his ninth goal of the playoffs in a 5-2 win at the Garden in game six.

Marchand opened the scoring, whipping a wrister past Roberto Luongo, one of four quick strikes by Boston, setting a record for fastest four goals in a Stanley Cup final series.

Ashley Bucklin and Olivia Kiely both think the Bruins will score six goals tonight, Bucklin, who’s dad Scott played hockey for the Big Blue said the final will be 6-1, while Kiely said the winning tally will be close, a 6-4 Bruins win.

Sean Lahrizi, looking sharp in his shirt and tie, picked the lowest score, a 2-1 Bruins win, Mike Johnson also said it’s a one-goal win for the B’s, he picked 4-3.

The NBA season is finished, who knows when football will be back, and the Red Sox are in first place, as scheduled, but tonight the TV’s in town will be tuned to the final hockey game of the year with the result bringing the end to a 39 year title drought, or the first championship in Canucks history. The puck drops at 8:05.

The kids helped raise over 26 hundred dollars to help fight hunger last night in the Middle School cafeteria.
