Selectmen Move to Wednesdays

Starting tonight the Board of Selectmen will meet on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays.

The change accommodates new job as chief of staff for Haverhill's mayor.

The Haverhill City Council meets every Tuesday night, a meeting that Van Dam will be attending as chief of staff.

Swampscott Selectmen's Chairman Matthew Strauss said he and fellow members Barry Greenfield, Rich Malagrifa and Jill Sullivan were fine with the change to their meeting schedule.

The chairman said the change will conintue at least through the end of the year.

Selectmen typically meet twice a month at 7 pm in their chambers at Town Hall, across the hall from the Town Clerk's Office.

This isn't the first time in recent memory that the board has changed its meeting night.

Last winter the board switched from Tuesdays to Wednesdays so member Jill Sullivan could watch her son, who was a senior captain for the Big Blue basketball team, play games.

The board returned to their Tuesday meetings after the season ended.
