School District Rents Space to Grown Ups 2

Stunt workers have been practicing at Stanley School and movie extras parking at Swampscott High as part of a deal the movie maker struck with the School District.

The School District has rented space to for parking and for its stunt team to practice.

When movie makers discovered they needed more parking for the hundreds of extras performing in party scenes at the sound stage they turned to the School Distirct.

Under the agreement the district receives $250 each day that the parking lot is used. It receives the same, $250 per day, when the Swampscott parking lot is used, said Ed Cronin, the district business manager.

He estimated the high school lot would be used by the movie extras six days, and that middle school lot would be used fewer than six days.

In addition, the movie maker will pay the district $1,500 for using space on the grounds, he said.

Stunt team members have been practicing routines including one in which go-karts go airborne.

All the money the district receives under the agreement will go into its accounts for building, property and systems maintenance, the business manager said.
