“We keep a list of those citizens who are alone or who have very few family members in the area”, says Swampscott Rotary Club president Laura King.  “The list is always growing and we encourage residents to  contact us about someone who should be on our holiday receiving list.”

Money raised through various Rotary fundraisers throughout the year fund this holiday giving initiative.

The main objective of Rotary is service - in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence.

They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

The Swampscott Rotary is always looking for new members and meets at the Red Rock Bistro, 141 Humphrey Street in Swampscott on Wednesdays at 12:15 pm. For more information go to www.SwamspocttRotary.org.
