Rip Current Warning Issued for Swampscott

A rip current warning has been issued for eastern-facing beaches in Massachusetts.

It will be a dangerous day to head out into the water.

The National Weather Service is warning swimmers that eastern-facing beaches will be dangerous today. Rip currents with surf height of up to five feet could cause even experienced swimmers to be unable to get back to land.

The service warns that "a lingering east to northeast swell as well as north-northeast winds will lead to a risk for dangerous rip currents as well as some high surf along east facing beaches in southern New England."
