Swampscott Power Restored Shortly After Midnight

National Grid said power was out for 130 customers near Fisherman's Beach for about three hours Sunday night.

 

A National Grid crew traced Sunday night's outage in Swampscott to a faulty underground cable.

The cable led from National Grid's Humphrey Street substation to the outside lines providing power to customers, said Jackie Barry, a utility company spokeswoman.

About 130 customers, residents and businesses, in the Fisherman's Beach area lost power at 9:07 Sunday night.

They were at locations on Cedar Hill Terrace, Bay View Drive, Greenwood Avenue and Humphrey Street,

Power was restored about 12:15 a.m. Monday, the spokeswoman said.
