Here are descriptions of the books requested most often last month at the Swampscott library.

Many patrons who come into the read reviews of forthcoming books or titles that have already been released.

These patrons then request that the book be held for them when it comes in. The following books are the most requested books for the past month.

***The Litigators by John Grisham

The partners at Finley & Figg—all two of them— refer to themselves as “a boutique law firm.” In reality they have a two bit operation that barely ekes out a living for them. When a new man joins the firm, he decides that they should tackle a huge case involving a cholesterol reducing drug. Many people who have used this medication have suffered heart attacks. It seems that all the Finley and Figg have to do is find a handful of people who have had heart attacks while taking Krayoxx, convince them to become clients, and join a class action suit. Any readers of Grisham know that nothing is as easy as it seems.

 

**Kill Alex Cross by James Patterson

The President's son and daughter are abducted, and Detective Alex Cross is one of the first on the scene. But someone very high-up is using the FBI, Secret Service, and CIA to keep him off the case and in the dark. He also is dealing with a deadly contagion in the water supply which is crippling half of the capital. Alex must quickly solve both of these cases before something truly terrible happens.

Vis for Vengeance by Sue Grafton

This is another installment of the Kinsey Millhone series. Before Kinsey has finished celebrating her 38th birthday she winds up with a broken nose and two black eyes and another case.

 

Maine by Courtney Sullivan

It is the final summer in Maine for the Kelleher family because Alice has decided to give the family’s summer home to the Catholic Church. Over the course of this summer, long-held secrets are revealed and much angst exudes from the pages of this family saga.

 

The Affair by Lee Child

This book is the start of the Jack Reacher sagas. This elite military cop must solve the death and the cover-up of  a young woman from Carter Crossing.

 

***The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks

Sparks tells the story of two high school sweethearts who are torn apart at the end of the summer of their senior year. They meet again, twenty-five years later, and the reader will find out if their love is everlasting.
