MLK Day: What's Open and Closed

What's open and closed on Jan. 20, in Swampscott.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the third Monday in January, is a federal holiday that honors the American civil rights leader.

The clergyman used nonviolent protests including boycotts, sit-ins and marches to draw attention to injustice and bring about change. 

He was assassinated April 4, 1968.
