Meet Ken Leeder: Big Blue's New Girls Soccer Coach

One of five things to know in Swampscott today: The new soccer coach is a Jersey guy, originally, who lives in Cambridge, Mass.

1) Newsbit of the Day:

Ken Leeder, 37, is the new coach for the Swampscott High varsity girls soccer team. The coach plans to meet with his players next week. Most recently he coached the girls team at Bergen Tech, in Hackensack, NJ. He coached two seasons, most recently in 2012.

As a soccer player he played midfield at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.

He looks forward to seeing what he has for players on the Swampscott team. His coaching philosophy? Being organized, playing good defense and working hard.

The coach works in sales and lives Cambridge, MA.

The Harbor and Waterfront Advisory Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall.

3) Swampscott Academics:

Anthony DiLisio of Swampscott received a BA degree from Skidmore College. A member of the Class of 2013, with 605 baccalaureate candidates, he participated in the College's 102nd Commencement Saturday, May 18, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

4) Weather Watch: 

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy dense fog before 11am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72.
