Man Threatened and Child Out of Control

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police logs. Where charges are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

 

Saturday, Oct. 27

  • At 10:44 p.m., a caller told police that a clerk at the Red Rock restaurant was refusing to accept his money, claiming it was counterfeit. Police met with the customer and manager. The customer was upset over the accusation. Police said the money looked OK but management refused to accept it and the customer used another means to pay the money owed.

Sunday, Oct. 28

  • At 9:10 a.m., a caller reported grafitti on doors at the Machon School building. 
  • At 11:32 a.m., a vehicle struck a light pole at the corner of Blaney Street, igniting a fire. 
  • At 3:09 p.m., a resident reported needles found on the beach at Puritan Road.
  • At 3:20 p.m., a caller at the Mobil Station near Staples said two men in a black Escalade threatened him, then the driver flashed a badge and stated he was a police officer. The caller said he did not believe the man was a police officer.
  • At 5:42 p.m., a caller reported an adult woman struggling with a female child on Magnolia Road. The woman had the child, about 8-10 years old, in a half nelson and the child was screaming. It turned out that the child got out of control at a brithday party and the adult took the child outside to calm her down.

Monday, Oct. 29

  • At 7:42 a.m., a caller reported a motor vehcile accident at Merrymount Drive and Morningside Drive. The car hit a utility pole and completely sheered it off. No indication of injuries. National Grid was notified.
