Popeo's/Kell's Kreme had customers out the door and along the sidewalk on Humphrey Street at 8:30 pm Wednesday.
The doors at Kell's had been swinging off their hinges for two hours, said manager Billy Nutt.
We asked Billy how Swampscott has been cooling off?
He said the customers have cooled in a big way by ordering signature specialties: strawberry shortcakes and brownie sundaes.
The servers were getting a workout dipping into the freezer scooping ice cream and frozen yogurt, too.
