Four Swampscott Streets Hit By Package Thefts

Once again packages have been stolen from front porches in town.

At the end of last week and over the weekend packages were taken from homes on Pleasant Street, Brown Road, Greenwood Avenue and Pinehill Road, said Swampscott police Det. Rose Cheever.

Some empty boxes then showed up in the areas of Brown Road, Pinehill, Phillips Beach Avenue and Pleasant Street.

Swampscott police recommend you require a signature if you are having a package delivered to your house.

Another precaution is to ask a neighbor to accept a package for you or to have the package delivered at the back of a residence.

And, at the very least, it's always helpful to be vigilant and watch out for your neighbors.

In mid-August police reported four delivery packages were stolen from Swampscott homes.

In one instance a thief stole a UPS package from outside a Burrill Street home during the day near the intersection with Paradise.
