Footprint Power Project Suffers a Setback
The Salem News is reporting that the State Department of Public Utilities voted not to request that National Grid or NStar enter into long-term power deals with Footprint.
The Salem News is reporting that the proposal to erect a natural gas power plant on the Salem waterfront suffered a real setback Friday.
According to the News, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities voted Friday not to ask National Grid and NStar to consider entering into longtime contracts to buy power from Footprint - a surprising setback that may end up halting the multi-million project altogether.
Without a financing agreement with a local utility company, Footprint developers have said it will be difficult for them to put the money forward to fund the project.
