Flags Lowered at Swampscott Public Buildings Through April 20

President Obama ordered flags lowered at public buildings as a mark of respect for victims of Monday's violence in Boston.

1) Newsbit of the Day:

President Barack Obama ordered flags flown at half staff at all public buildings as a mark of respect for victims of the April 15, Boston bombings. These flags will fly at half staff through sunset on April 20.

In Swampscott Tuesday flags were lowered on poles in numerous locations including the fire and police stations, inside the circle at Monument Avenue, by the Civil War monument and outside the US Post Office.

2) Town and School Watch

Curbside trash and recycling will be delayed by one day throughout the week (Monday's pick-up, April 15, will be on Tuesday, etc.).

Several Swampscott high teams are in action today, including the track team which travels to Marblehead for a 10 a.m. meet at the Village School grounds.
