Dramatic Sky At King's Beach

Walkers, runners and sitters stopped to admire the dramatic cloud formations at sunset Monday at King's Beach in Swampscott.

Here are some of the comments onlookers had:

"You'll never see a cloud like that again."

"That's scary."

People wondered if a twister might emerge from the contorted mass.

Many people stopped to take cell phone pics of the tapering purple and black shape as it hung over Nahant and swept towards Swampscott about 7:50 pm.

The advancing edge of the storm cloud formed a clean dark bank extending over Anthony's Pier 4, Red Rock, St. John's and Yan's Bistro.

It was something to see.
