Bocce Court Construction Underway

A Meninno Construction crew started work on the Senior Center bocce court on Tuesday morning.

A Paradise Construction crew will follow, installing a framework for the court. It should be ready for play next Monday, July 22, said Jeff Plumb, a Meninno supervisor.

Myron Stone and Don Wescott of the Senior Center said they were grateful for the donated services from the two local construction companies.
When completed the court will give the center an additional reason for men to come to the center.
The Center is trying to recruit more men.
Don Wescott said the court will also give Swampscott High School an additional recreation and learning space for physical education and other classes.
This morning crews stripped an 11 feet by 61 feet area, put down a layer of fabric and filled
and leveled the area with crushed stone, the crew supervisor said.
Next they will top the space with stone dust before a Paradise crew frames the space with a short retaining wall-like structure.

Before long the bocce balls will be rolling.
