April 3 Flag Dedication Ceremony to Honor Former Swampscott Students

Superintendent Lynne Celli writes:

"Swampscott Middle School is honored to announce that on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at noon, there will be a dedication of a flag in honor of Captain Jennifer Harris and Specialist Jared Raymond, former students of the Swampscott Public Schools.  It has been decided that this flag, which was flown over Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan, on Oct. 25, 2012, should be dedicated to the two service members who were taken from us in defense of the country that they loved. We honor them with this flag and plaque, and we hope that current and future students of Swampscott who view this memorial will be reminded of the sacrifices that Jennifer, Jared, and their loved ones made for all of us."

3) Swampscott Scholars:

Eduard Fidler of Swampscott, majoring in plastics engineering, was recently recognized for achieving academic distinction during the University of Massachusetts Lowell's Fall 2012 semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have completed at least 12 graded credits for the semester, have at least a 3.25 grade point average with no grade lower than C and may not have any incompletes.

4) Weather Watch: 

Snow showers likely before 10am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
