Andrews Chapel Open to the Public Today

The chapel, the exterior of which was recently renovated, will be open before and after the noon Memorial Day observances at the Swampscott Cemetery.

Andrews Chapel, which is in the Swampscott Cemetery, will be open to the public before and after the town's Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27.

The Memorial Day observances are at noon. The chapel will be open at 10 a.m.

In December, Andrews Chapel and the Swampscott Cemetery were voted on to the National Register of Historic Places. The Mass Historical Commission voted unanimously for the designation.

The 1923 Chapel has undergone extensive exterior renovations. Now plans for the renovation of the much deteriorated interior are underway. The interior renovations will be funded by private donations.

Members of the Restoration Committee, along with contractors and architects involved in the planning of the project, will be available Monday to answer questions.
