5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 7

Today is Monday, March 7, 2011. Here are five things for a Swampscott person to know.

1)  Tide Watch —  Beach walkers and dog walkers take notice. Today's low tide is 6:34 a.m. (.01 ft.) and high tide is 12:48 p.m. (9.15 feet)

2)  Help Watch — The Respect for Human Differences Task Force will be holding the  4th Annual Respect for Human Differences Jump-a thon this Friday March 11 at the Swampscott High School from 3 - 4:30 p.m. 

3) Flood Watch — A flood watch remains in effect through this morning at 7 for low areas in eastern Mass., including Swampscott.

4) Local History — 100 years ago on this date, the big news in the area was the execution of Andrei Ipsen and Wasili Ivankowski, referred to as Lynn bandits and murderers by the press. Ipsen repented and Ivankowski sneered and spit a volley of oaths. (Information from the Lynn Daily Evening Item.)
