5 Things to Know: Girls Soccer Coach Takes Job With Revs

On Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., the Swampscott library will host Getting Started in Genealogy, a presentation by Rhonda McClure of the New England Historic Genealogical Society.

1) Town and School Watch

The Friends of the Swampscott Public Library invite you to Friends of the Family: Getting Started in Genealogy, a presentation by Rhonda McClure, genealogist at the New England Historic Genealogical Society. Ms. McClure will present ways to begin learning about your family history and will include resources available at the Swampscott Public Library. She is a nationally recognized professional genealogist, and has published 10 books and numerous articles. The Friends of the Swampscott Public Library provides support to keep the library as a valuable community resource. The program will be Wednesday, March 20th at 6:30pm in the library. We will have door prizes, a raffle, and refreshments. Free tickets available at Reference Desk beginning Wednesday, March 6th. Please call the library for more information at 781-596-8867.

Swampscott High girls' varsity soccer coach Francesco Recchia has resigned to take a position with the New England Revolution's youth organization, Swampscott Athletic Director Jon Flanagan said.

The Revolution is a professional Major League Soccer team based in Foxborough, Mass.

We will catch up wth the coach to learn more about his new soccer adventure. In the meantime, the Swampscott AD said he expects to open the Big Blue postion for applicants soon.

3) Swampscott Scholars: 

Stonehill College recently named Swampscott resident Suzanne C. Murphy, a member of the class of 2013, to its Dean's List.

To qualify for the Dean's List at Stonehill, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

4) Weather Watch:
