It's Friday, everyone's favorite day of the week. 

If you're lucky, Friday means putting away work and taking a breather.

If you're staying in Swampscott, here are five things you can participate in.

1. Maybe you're a bit late on spring cleaning and would like to get rid of some appliances. If it's made out of metal, you're in luck. Swampscott Public Works Department will be accepting all of your . In addition to ridding yourself of waste you're contributing toward a good cause. The metal you donate will help Swampscott raise money for the Jackson playground project. So, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. drop by 300 Paradise Road and help the community. "This is a free way for people that want to get rid of their stuff,' said Kevin Donaher, a member of the Jackson Park Playground Committee. "It helps the environment and helps the playground."

2. Take your family toon Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. for the . Kids can enjoy different activities from face painting to raffles and music. All of the proceeds from this event will go toward the Jimmy Fund. 

3. Parents, take the evening off from parenting and check out . With activities like movie-watching, basketball and music, there's plenty of stuff to keep your angst-ridden adolescents entertained. 

4. There's a  on Saturday. It's always fun to rummage through someone else's memories in hopes of discovering a hidden treasure. Stop by 117 Essex Street to search out some goodies. 

5.  will be holding a Blessing of the Fleet event. There are no restrictions on the vessels; they can be of all shapes and sizes. Blessing will be given by Reverend Mark Templeman from the Church of the Holy Name. After the blessing, Swampscott's fire department will reinstall the brass fish atop of the Fish House. Grab a gourmet hot-dog while you're at the event.
