5 Things Including Early Childhood Literacy

Learn about reading aloud to children on Tuesday at the Swampscott Public Library.

1) Newsbit of the Day: On Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 pm, the Swampscott Public Library will present a program to help adults encourage early childhood literacy. Most adults realize the importance of reading aloud to young children but many are not familiar with ways to read aloud effectively, according to the library program. Co-authors of Help Me Get Ready To Read: The Practical Guide For Reading Aloud To Young Children During Their First Five Years, Susan Marx and Barbara Kasok want all caring adults who read aloud to young children to know that they can have tremendous impact on raising reading-ready children. Teachers who attend the program can receive a certificate for completing it.

2) Swampscott Sports: The Swampscott High winter sports season will soon be underway with a full slate of boys and girls sports.
