World Series Gear on Sale Immediately With Red Sox Win

Several chain sporting good retailers held late night hours on Wednesday and early morning hours on Thursday to sell Sox gear with their World Series win on Wednesday night.

Sporting goods stores in greater Boston were open Wednesday night and early Thursday morning after the Red Sox won the World Series.

The stores have World Series champion T-shirts, hats and other gear for sale in the wake of the Red Sox win, 6-1, in Game 6 making them World Series champions. 

Four locations of Modell’s Sporting Goods – in Medford, Natick and Saugus plus Nashua, N.H. opened right after the game on Wednesday night.

Those stores were to open on Thursday at 5 a.m.

The remaining Modell’s stores in New England, including the location at North Beverly Plaza, were to open at 6 a.m. on Thursday after the Sox win.

Dick’s Sporting Goods, including its location next to Liberty Tree Mall, also planned to open immediately after the World Series win. Its Danvers, Saugus, Natick, Brockton, Hanover, Northborough, Worcester, Leominster and Millbury stores were to be open from midnight until 2 a.m. on Wednesday night and reopen again at 6 a.m. 

The Sports Authority also planned special hours for several greater Boston stores if the Red Sox wins. The store at Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers as well as locations in Somerville, Watertown, Framingham, Braintree, Woburn, Milford and Mansfield will open immediately after a win and stay open “as business demands,” according to Sports Authority spokeswoman Patricia Jimenez.

At Bob’s Stores, most locations will open early at 5 a.m. on Thursday.

Olympia Sports at Swampscott Mall, 450 Paradise Road, should be stocked with Red Sox World Series Champion gear on Thursday.
