Office Building to be Auctioned Off

An Essex Street office will be auctioned off next month.

An Essex Street office building will go up for sale at auction next month.

The building at 324 Essex St. - between Danvers Road and Swampscott High School - is a 5,000 square foot, one-story wood frame building built in 1920, according to the auction listing from auctioneer James R. St. Jean.

The building had been home to American Trust Mortgage and is owned by Mirage Realty Trust, which bought it in January 2007 for $440,000.

The building includes office space, a reception area, conference room and kitchenette. It has an assessed value of $368,500, for tax purposes, and this year has a tax bill of $12,820.

It had been scheduled to go to auction last month, but the auction was postponed to Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at the building.
