Teen Poetry Contest Finalists Named

The 7th Lee Golomb Cadiff TEEN POETRY CONTEST 2011 contest awards ceremony is April 27.

Over 200 poems were submitted to the and the judges have selected 14 finalists. 

There are seven finalists of the poetry contest from the Swampscott Middle School.

They are: Kate Brodsky — Grade 8, Nick Dell — Grade 8, Olivia Forman — Grade 8, August Solone— Grade 8, Alexandra Vogel — Grade 7, Julie Zabar — Grade 7, and Alexander Zavriyev — Grade 8. 

The six finalists from Swampscott High School are:  Elana Feldman — Grade 10, Jillian Hebert  Grade 12, Thomas McEnaney — Grade 10, Joseph Medoff — Grade 11, Paulina Perlin — Grade 11, and Claire Weaver-Zeman — Grade 9.

There is one finalist from Shore Country Day School:  Elise Friedman — Grade 8

The awards ceremony will be on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Swampscott Public Library, 61 Burrill St. Swampscott 781-596-8867, during National Poetry Month.

The finalists will read their poems and find out what prizes they've won. 

The ceremony is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend and hear these wonderful poems.

Please come and cheer on your friends. Desserts will be served.
