Swampscott Talent Ready

The talent show acts will take the high school stage Saturday.

They are singers and dancers. They are young, middle-aged and older.

They are talents.

"Swampscott really does have talent," said Recreation Director, and talent scout, Danielle Strauss.

She was speaking to selectmen about Saturday's show, Swampscott's Got Talent, to be performed on the high school stage from 4-6 p.m.

Some of the acts are unique, including a 12-year-old's yo-yo tricks performed to music.

The routine sounds funny but the performer is "really really good," she said.

One of the acts remains a closely held secret. A member of the Board of Selectmen will dance ballroom style to Lady Gaga.

About 25 talents will take the auditorium stage.

The performers auditioned two days last week.

They also include a newcomer to town singing a Spanish song, and a student singing Hallelujah.

Other talents include a 6-year-old playing Tchaikovsky on the piano, senior line dancers, accordion players and a comic.

Radio personality Danielle Murr of WAAF, who grew up in Swampscott, will emcee the show.

Swampscott’s Got Talent is a showcase not a competition.

Tickets can be bought online at www.swampscottrec.com

They are also on sale at Town Hall, the Swampscott Library and the Senior Center.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door.
