Scrapbook: Harborfest 2011 Rocks and Rows

Duct-boats floated and rock bands jammed Saturday at Fisherman's Beach.

The day of Harborfest started with rain and ended with sun.

In between, crews on duct-tape vessels plied their oars close to shore.

The tide came and went. So did fishermen, at the beach that bears their name.

A dozen feet above sea level, guitar players and keyboardists and drummers swam through covers and originals.

Nine North Shore teen contingents took the stage.

It was an all-ages crowd, from toddlers to grandmoms, but the majority were teens.

They danced, cheered and tapped toes.

Some kicked a hacky-sack and hurled Frisbees. Some strolled the sandy beach.

Occasionally, enthusiasm got the better of a pair, and they conspired on piggy-back, rushing the stage at a gallop.

On stage, the bands kept their fans energized, and their fans returned the favor — rounding out a splendid day at the sea.
