The Adam Sandler sequel to Grown Ups begins filming later this month in Swampscott and Marblehead. Open casting will be held this weekend.

Selectmen told the location scout for Grown Ups 2 when they met last month that they field a common question from residents: How do you become an extra for the Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups 2?

The casting call is Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13, between 10 am and 4 pm at Carson Place @ The Boston Teacherʼs Union Hall, 180 Mt. Vernon St., Dorchester, MA 02125 (near the Bayside Expo Center), according to Sande Alessi Casting of Boston.

The casting company recommends that prospective extras bring a pen and a current 4X6 color snapshot. Not a professional photograph.

The company will not be taking photographs, their open call states.

The extras are paid. And the casting group is looking for children and adults.

Apparently a lot of them.

The Sande Alessi Boston Facebook page includes an update that reads: "Also, we need TONS of kids age 12-17 and TONS of adults age 18-75. Our open calls are very fast and efficient, we will get you in and out quickly!"

A good portion of the movie will be filmed in Swampscott including scenes at Swampscott Middle School and the Swampscott Train Station.

The movie will be in production in Marblehead and Swampscott from May 21 to Aug. 17.

The sequel to Grown Ups, about the reunion of childhood friends, stars Sandler, David Spade, Taylor Lautner, Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, Rob Schneider and others, according to IMDb.
