Loyal Grown Ups 2 Fans Remain at Filming Location

Many of the movie's big stars have flown home but filming continued Wednesday in Swampscott. And Grown Ups 2 fans held their ground at the entrance to Bondelevitch Way.

Grown Ups 2 fan Leila Slakovic calls her group the "fan family" or the "set family."

They are from Swampscott and Tewksbury, Newburyport and Lynn and Revere — all over Eastern Massachusetts.

Many of them didn't know each other before this summer. But they do now.

They are girls and young women, typically between 13 and 21, and have been a presence at Grown Ups 2 sets since early June.

They numbered about 10 Wednesday afternoon at the entrance to Bondelevitch Way at  These were stalwarts in the elite fan family club.

Their goal, as always, was to scream so loudly, so enthusiastically that it coaxed a star from a comfy seat in an arriving or departing black van.

The fans then typically descend on the star for a brief photo shoot.

Usually they are goofy photos on a prearranged theme. Let's look shocked. Let;s look disgusted. Let's stage a funny face free-for-all.

Moments earlier, fan Heather Silvia, 21, had her picture taken with Halston Sage.

Disney actor Jake Goldberg, a fan fam favorite, waved to the crowd.

"He's very special to us," one of the girls said.

The girls like to get silly and order pizza.

They know the drivers and production assistants by name and pump them for information about who is on the set or who will be arriving.

They stand for hours on end, unwavering in their mission.

Rachael Webster, 19, says part of the fun is meeting famous people.

But the fan family has a lot fun with each other. They share a lot of laughs talking about the times they met certain stars or how they are going to meet the next star.

A highlight for Rachael was when she asked Alexander Ludwig to get her in a head-lock for a photo.

"He did," she said. "It was sweet."

The 19-year-old also has scratched three items from her bucket list at Grown Ups 2 this summer: Getting her picture taken with Taylor Lautner; being an extra in the movie; and meeting someone from the Hunger Games movie (Alexander Ludwig).

Ask Heather Silvia how many times she has staked out a spot at a Grown Ups 2 set this summer and she says: "Too many."

Her sister, Hannah, says they have been to more than 50.

The set days appear to be numbered.

Word is the filming will end soon. Maybe Thursday. Maybe Friday.

For however many days it continues, the fan family will be there, waiting for the next star and the next photo.
