Library Monsters, Movies and Art

Upcoming programs at the library for teens include Flip Camera movie making and cartooning.

Programs at Swampscott Public Library, 61 Burrill St., for 5th through 12th graders in March.  All are free admission. 

Teen Book Club

The Teen Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to discuss The Lightning Thief.

The April meeting will be Tuesday, April 5, from  5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to discuss Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies.  

This is a club for teens, run by teens.  The library will supply snacks, copies of the books and the space.

Gaming tournament

Wednesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. Teen Tech Week program: Video Gaming Tournament!  Call to register – space is limited.

 Flip Camera Class

Wednesday, March 16, at 6 p.m. Swampscott High School students Dave Shorr and Devin Jaffe will teach how to film using flip cameras.  

Students will borrow the library’s cameras to create films that we will load on the library’s website.

 Teen Art Class 

Thursday, March 24, at 5:30 p.m. Darren Goldman will teach mixed media illustration and cartooning techniques.  

His art is inspired by the cuteness of “monsters” and Saturday morning cartoons.  He has recently designed a CD cover for the band hurtsmile.  

The class will use pencil and paint to create characters and narratives.  Call to register – space is limited.
