Grown Ups 2 Update

The interior of the sound stage is taking shape in preparation for July filming.

Construction of the Grown Ups 2 movie set inside the giant sound stage at is well along in preparation for filming in July.

A movie location manager told the Swampscott ZBA earlier that the sound stage will allow the movie crew to film a night "wild party" scene during the day.

The alternative was to rent a large home with a pool and film 15 to 16 nights with the J. Geils Band performing, said location manager Charlie Harrington.

That seems to imply that J. Geils will be playing under the Phillips Park big top.

The entire cast is in the party scene that takes place at the rear of the home belonging to the Adam Sandler character, Harrington said.

The shingled two-story home with a captain's window and long front porch looks over a suburban estate of trees and a pool and pool house at the other end.

The pool, about 24 feet by 32 feet, is 12 feet deep.

Much of the home's construction appears complete though the pool and pool house and grounds look to need at least another week's work.

The dozens of fake trees that stood outside the sound stage have been moved inside recently, sprayed clean and set in the ground.

The set has a world-of-its own look. It's strange to see so complete a set inside a building.
