Grown Ups 2 Fan Profile

A short profile of a fan in the crowd that formed on Shelton Road Friday near a Grown Ups 2 set.

Retired flight attendant Jean Boylan lives just down the street from the house where Adam Sandler's was being filmed Friday afternoon.

Jean lives in the home she grew up in on Shelton Road and knows the family whose cape at 62 Shelton was being used for the movie scenes.

Jean graduated in 1966 from , and met celebrities in her 35 years as a flight attendant but this is the first time she has seen a movie being made.

Back in the early 1970s after a flight from LaGuardia Airport to Atlanta she found the actor Paul Newman's wallet and had it returned to him.

He was a very nice man, she said. They talked during the flight and later after it landed she found his wallet while straightening up the seating area.

She recalled meeting Academy Award winning actor George C. Scott. He was also a nice man and she still has his autograph.

She also met an unlikely celebrity whose fame was brief but broad.

The celebrity was a performer called "The Whistling Grandmother" and could whistle any popular song. She performed on Johnny Carson's late night talk shows.

The grandmother, from somewhere in Middle America, was also very nice and whistled a short tune on the flight for the attendants.

For Jean, seeing a movie made on her street is different than meeting celebrities on a flight. It's more personal, the experience being in her hometown, her neighborhood.

It interests her to see the film put together and she would be curious to see the sound stage after it is constructed at Phillips Park.

"I'm really interested in seeing the swimming pool down there if they ever let us in," she said. A wild pool party is scheduled to be filmed in the sound stage.

On Shelton Road she saw the actress Maria Bello and the child who plays Kevin James' kid. Later, on Friday, Chris Rock and David Spade arrived to the set.

Earlier this month she bicycled to the Swampscott Train Station to catch some of the Grown Ups 2 action.

But on Friday she only needed to walk from her door and step down the familiar sidewalk on her street to see Chris Rock and David Spade and the world of make believe being made.

"I love it, it's exciting," Jean said. "I love people. I like the movies."
