Eastern European Photography in Focus Monday

The Swampscott Public Library will show photography of Russia with commentary on war, the Cold War, and the post Cold War. The show starts at 7 p.m.

On Monday, July 18th at 7 p.m., the Swampscott Public Library will present Murray Forbes, founder of the Navigator Foundation, which is an organization dedicated to improving understanding among peoples of the world through photography.

The Navigators have collected, documented, preserved and displayed dramatically enlightening photography from the key countries of the 20th Century.

Mr. Forbes will show the photography of Russia in a PowerPoint presentation with commentary, arranged historically: War, Cold War, post Cold War.

The collection includes still life, landscape and abstract compositions, but the human subject dominates.

The Foundation believes the medium of photography universally communicates individual reality and imaginative artistry of other countries and their peoples.
