In the end those who were waiting to see if Denzel Washington woud make an appearance at 61 Magnolia Road in Swampscott were rewarded for their patience.
Among the waiting throng, directly across the street, were John Gold and his wife. They watched the crews preparing for filming with one eye and, with the other, sought out Denzel.
This was the second time in two years they have had a movie shot in their neighborhood, John said. Last year it was Grown Ups 2, the Adam Sandler movie.
Also among the crowd was J.R. Young of Lexington Circle.
Earlier, he had looked out a window at his home and saw all the trucks and came down to Magnolia with his 3-year-old son.
Later in the morning he returned alone.
"I'm waiting to see if Denzel Washington makes and appearance," he said.
The actor did make an appearance around noon.
He even greeted the crowd and made small talk with them before breaking for lunch.
J.R. said it was worth the wait.
