Denzel Washington May Be Coming to Town For a Movie

Will Denzel Washington be the next star to make a movie in Swampscott?

Bill Laganas, owner of Lynn Meatland — a meat market, sandwich shop and catering company in Lynn — said yesterday he got a call late last week from movie crew members saying movie scouts were looking at locations in Swampscott for a Denzel Washington film.

Lynn Meatland did catering, big and small, for Grown Ups 2 last year, and Laganas is friendly with movie crew members.

Laganas said he was told the Denzel Washington movie could take place in July, maybe the second week. The Swampscott location isn't cast in stone, he said. 

Boston Magazine reported that Washington was expected shoot scenes for the movie The Equalizer in Boston in June.

The movie is loosely based on a television show from the 80s about a private detective bent on righting wrongs, the article states.

Laganas said he heard the The Equalizer could be the start of a franchise series for Washington.

Lynn Meatland catered for the sequel last summer, serving intimate dinners for 10-12 people and serving up to 200 people at the larger events.

He is ready to serve, again. 

“Have grill will travel,” he said.
