Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence Movie May Shoot in Swampscott

The town administrator has been approached about a one-day shoot this spring on private property.

An unnamed David O. Russell movie that has filmed at Massachusetts sets including those in Natick, Boston and Lynn may add Swampscott to the mix.

The film, about the 1970s Abscam scandal, stars Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.

Film representatives have been in touch with the Swampscott town administrator. The parties were to set up a time to talk this week about a one-day shoot on private property, Town Administrator Tom Younger said.

The filming would be some time this spring, he said.

No decision has been reached. The talks are to revolve around what would be required of the town including the blocking off of streets, he said.

Swampscott has seen lots of Hollywood in recent years.

Dozens of Swampscott property owners contracted for scenes at or near their homes last summer for Adam Sandler's Grown Ups 2. Swampscott was the base for the film and home to many scenes including a major one that featured all the film's stars — a pool party in the soundstage at Phillips Park.

The town administrator says the town has a wealth of settings, from interesting homes to the ocean, that make the town an attractive location for moviemakers.

If the Russell film shoots in Swampscott it will be third year in a row that a major Hollywood production has come to town.

In 2011, Ted filmed a major scene at an Atlantic Avenue home.

2012 was the so-called Summer of Sandler in Swampscott.

Now, in 2013, the David Russell film starring Christian Bale may make a stop in Swampscott.

Bale is no stranger to Massachusetts film shoots. He co-starred in The Fighter, a movie based on Lowell boxer Mickey Ward.
