So does Hayley Gookin, a senior majoring in fashion merchandising at Marian Court.

Hayley, from Swampscott, is a girly-girl who dresses up at every opportunity.

Shoes and dresses are her favorites, and she digs styling and coordinating outfits.

Both Hayley and Christa will share ideas about their favorites, about trends and about what they see locally.

They plan to cast their eyes locally for some of .

They plan to write about what they see in the halls, streets and stores in Swampscott.

Why such an abiding interest in fashion? Because fashion truly is their passion.

"I love that fashion is always changing, everyday, and yet we still see fashion repeats like history," Christa said. "Like those wide-leg pants that are coming in this spring? The seventies are coming back."

Hayley says style is personal and important. A statement.

"People should care about fashion because it is a way to express yourself and it shows that you take pride in yourself," Hayley said.

We welcome our newest bloggers on the Swampscott Patch block and look forward to learning about fashion.

Christa says she knows that many people care more about function than fashion, but she aims to change that perspective — if only one pair of shoes at a time.

"I feel that we can inspire others to fall in love with fashion," she said, "because fashion is everywhere!"
