Saturday Night Live Alumni Lovitz Joins Grown Ups 2

The newest actor to join the cast of Swampscott's Grown Ups 2 makes at least seven SNL alumni now in the Adam Sandler sequel.

 

Yeah, that's the ticket. 

Jon Lovitz is apparently the latest Saturday Night Live alumni to sign on to Swampscott's, the Adam Sandler movie filming in town this summer.

Jon Lovitz@realjonlovitz announced Sunday on Twitter:  "Flying to Boston to shoot "Grown Ups 2" w/ Adam Sandler!!!! Will be a blast!!!!"

Lovitz characters on Saturday Night Live included Tommy Flanagan, the self-aggrandizing liar quick with a brassy tale and dropped named.

Grown Ups 2 already features SNL alumna Maya Rudolph, who was reportedly shopping at in Swampscott on Saturday.

Other former SNL cast members in the flick about reunited childhood friends include Chris Rock, Andy Samberg, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider and David Spade.

Grown Ups 2 is the latest in Swampscott's movie history, a legacy that is both recent and from almost a 100 years ago.

Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis filmed scenes for at Preston Beach last May. Ted is due in theatres next month.

Way back when, about 1917, early film star Mary Pickford made a splash 

A scene for the movie that was shot on Whales Beach placed a drowning Mary Pickford in the surf.

A Swampscott fisherman witnessed the action.

Failing to recognize it was from the world of make believe, he went into the surf to pluck the starlet from the water and the scene needed reshooting, local historian Lou Gallo said.

Grown Ups 2 will have a water scene but not in the surf.

It will be a pool scene from a wild party to be shot in the Swampscott under construction at .

The hangar-like sound stage is the first of its kind in Massachusetts.
