Whiz Kids: Tori and Gia

The Swampscott cousins raised $65 for tornado relief at a recent yard sale.

The cousins used a bright idea to help people in need.

When Tori Minkovitz's mom, Dineen Bartolo, put together a yard sale a week ago, Tori, 8, decided to sell lemonade, her used books and tattoos.

The Hadley School student was joined by her cousin Gia Maietta, 9, from Clarke School.

Together they sold the books, tattoos and $1 cups of lemonade on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20.

Each customer who bought a cup of lemonade also received a handmade pixo.

Their sales raised $65, and all of it went to the Tornado Relief Fund, set up to help people who lost homes and possessions in the recent destruction.

For their enterprising good works, we name Tori and Mia this week's Whiz Kids.
