You will hear whoops, chuckles, splashes and screams.

You will also hear an "aaaarggghh har-har," the familiar pirate's call.

Blackbeard was a real fellow, according to Wikipedia.

Born Edward Teach, about 1680, he practiced his sea-going thuggery in the West Indies and off the coast of the American colonies.

For all his fearsome appearance — he reportedly wore his beard braded in pigtails and lighted matches under his hat — he ruled with the assent of his crew. And there is no documentation that he ever harmed a captive.

He seemed to revel in the cold water on Tuesday at Fisherman's Beach.
